| Dear Friends of Grace
Join Us On Saturday Mornings During Lent.
It's a breakfast thing, with "speakers". The speakers come from the church preceding their assigned position. So, for example, the group doing the skit is from Parr.
Reservations are required by the Thursday preceding the breakfast you plan to attend.
Call that church. There's a free will offering for the meal.
The theme for 2010... "Christ In My Life".

| LENT PREPARATION VIDEO WITH BISHOP COYNER |
|
Lent is the church's time to pepare for Lent. But how do our ministers prepare to prepare us for the holy season of Lent?
Our new Indiana Conference has cluster groups where clergy meet on a local basis to hold themselves accountable in their small groups.
An 18 minute video featuring Bishop Mike Coyner has been produced as a resource for these groups. Others, also, are permitted to watch and use it to prepare for Lent...

| WALK A MILE IN MY SHOES |
|
On Saturday, February 13, the team representing Grace would love to have you join them in supporting Open Arms. Please consider supporting Open Arms by walking, donating to one of the walkers or by greeting the Kokomo community in to our Fellowship Hall for breakfast that morning. Last year the team raised close to $2200 with about 30 walkers joining the Grace Team. Our two lovely pastors have agreed to a "Pastor Challenge" to the congregation. If we meet our goal of $1000 this year, they have agreed to a little fun during the February 14 worship service.
If you are interested in walking, it is not too late. Sign up in the Fellowship Hall after the 9:25 worship service on February 7 or call Susan Garner. If you are considering greeting, we need Grace members from 8-11 by the Mulberry St. entrance. If you want to walk with us, we meet at 8 a.m. for breakfast and then take a picture in the Rescue Mission parking lot before heading out to walk.
During these tough times in Kokomo, let's bring a little hope and joy to those people who are less fortunate than ourselves. Grace Church is showing its love and support by opening its doors for the community breakfast. It never ceases to amaze me with how loving and generous Grace members are to the needs of our community.
Thanks for your continuing support, Susan Garner 453-1819

HAITI
|
United Methodists have had a long-standing relationship with Haiti
through the Methodist Church of Haiti. The strong ties between the
Methodist Church of Haiti and The United Methodist Committee on Relief
(UMCOR) helped in facilitating the opening of the UMCOR Haiti field
office in 2005. 100 percent of Advance gifts made will go to support
relief and development efforts due to emergencies in Haiti.
Responding To The Need... Haiti needs help. If you can assist... make a check out to GRACE UMC. In the memo section put, UMCOR Advance #418325-Haiti.
UMCOR WebsiteUMCOR also needs health kits to distribute to Haitian earthquake victims. Grace families, individuals,
youth, children, men, or women can put together kits for about
$8-12. A list in Fellowship Hall describes specific items like soap,
hand towels, etc. You may also donate money to a United Methodist
Woman in Fellowship Hall, and the UMW will do the kits. Bring kits to
the office or parlor as soon as possible through February. |
| LYDIA'S TAILORING CENTRE |
Shirley Teaches Nairobi Kids to Sew
Help Us Teach Them To Fish.
Bring relief and hope to the slums of Nairobi, Kenya... as you play a key roll in the success of Lydia's Tailoring Center Foundation.
It raises funds for Lydia's Sewing and Tailoring Academy.
The academy will provide hands on training. It'll provide self sufficiency and financial security by developing tailoring skills.
Shirley Hoy, the founder, has been to Nairobi, Kenya on mission trips 3 times in the past 2 years. She has made many uniforms for school children in Nairobi. She now feels that God has a new mission for her there and that is to give adults and children in Kenya the ability to sew for themselves and others.
You Can Help By...
Joining the Back To The 50's Bash
Break out those peddle pushers and saddle shoes... the pegged pants and the white t-shirts. Don't forget the Luckys... remember, LSMFT.
Lean back and sway to the "Jailhouse Rock" and "Great Balls of Fire".
Feel more adventurous... then hit the dance floor with your lady... wow the crowd with those twists and slides. Never learned the swing? Don't worry. it's not too late. They'll show you how to do it.
Then you can join the competition for 1 of the prizes... or just sit back... smile... and remember as you sip a root beer float and chomp down on a dog or burger and fries.
You say... just thinking about it makes you tired? Then how about a little Jeopardy? The categories are...
- Movies.
- Politics/History
- TV shows.
- Music, Songs, Artists
- Cars.
- Products.
Of course, all from the 50's. Now's your chance to bone-up so you can win 1 of the prizes.
Not your thing? Well, how about a hula hoop contest or the best "costume" contest.
Not a burger and dog fan? Then, try the soup or popcorn.
It'll be a bash! Join us... get into it... have a fabulous time. And best of all the profits will go towards helping those in the slums of Nairobi.
See you there on February 20th from 6:00 - 8:00 P.M. Get your admission ticket NOW... only $3.00.
See Donna Brownfield, Pat Hayes, or on Sunday, Shirley Hoy, in Fellowship Hall after the service.
It's a chance to do so much. Join us. See you on the 20th.
Please click on the photo above to view the Lydia's Tailoring Centre web site. There you will learn more about the mission and its needs.
